SUMMARY

To inform the development of what have now become the Pipeline Safety Regulations 1996, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) commissioned a study to determine the risks posed by gasoline pipelines in the UK. The study compared individual and societal risks for four pipelines of varying diameter and operating pressure in both rural and urban areas.

This report and the work it describes were funded by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Its contents, including any opinions and/or conclusions expressed, are those of the author(s) alone and do not necessarily reflect HSE policy
