SUMMARY

HSE are concerned with the effects of vibrations on safety related equipment induced through the structure from blast loads. It is known that such vibrations led to the failure of safety related equipment and hence contributed to the escalation of the Piper Alpha disaster. The walkdown procedure assess the vulnerability of plant and equipment to vibration, this report demonstrates its applicability for this procedure.
